Three ships of the United States Navy have been named USS ''Recruit'': * , a wooden "battleship" built in New York City's Union Square in 1917 as a recruiting tool, decommissioned in 1920, she was to be moved to Coney Island, but her ultimate fate is unknown. * , launched in 1943, was an built during World War II. Her keel was laid down by the General Engineering & Dry Dock Co. of Alameda, California, 24 May 1943, and she was commissioned 8 November 1944. She saw action in the Pacific and was awarded 3 battle stars. She was decommissioned and placed in reserve in 1946, and was sold to the Mexican Navy as ''DM-07'' in 1963. * was a stationary, landlocked training ship at Naval Training Center San Diego. Commissioned in 1949, decommissioned in 1967, and recommissioned in 1982, she was in continuous service from 1949 until the base closed in 1997.
